VIII Games 2011

15-17 April our University hosted the major sporting event of the year for Malaysian students – the 8th Intervarsity Sports Meet for Universities in the Russian Federation.

The host university is rotated every year among six Russian Universities for the past 7 years. This academic year 1st MSMU continued the tradition as the 8th host.
This year teams from seven Russian universities took part in the traditional sports event:

  • I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University
  • Russian State Medical University
  • Volgograd State Medical University
  • Kursk State Medical University
  • Nizhny Novgorod State Medical University
  • Moscow Aviation Institute
  • Saint Petersburg Marine Technology University

Competitions in 11 Sport Disciplines were held at the University Stadium «Burevestnik» and Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport and Tourism in Moscow:     VIII Games 2011  VIII Games 2011

  • Mini Football                  
  • Basketball
  • Handball
  • Volleyball
  • Netball
  • Takraw
  • Table tennis
  • Field football
  • Bowling
  • Field hockey
  • Badminton                                                                                                                                                                       

The event was officiated by Ambassador of Malaysia to the Russian Federation Dato’ Zainol Abidin Omar, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Professor Petr Frantsevich Litvitskiy, head of the Dean's Office for International Students Irina Yuryevna Markovina.

In addition to competitions programme, Malaysian students presented to spectators a cultural show. VIII Games 2011

VIII Games 2011I.M. Sechenov 1st Moscow State Medical University team scored the highest result – 7 gold and 6 silver medals. The second place took the team of Kursk State Medical University (4 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals). The honorary third place went to Russian State Medical University (3 gold, 6 Silver and 5 bronze medals).
