RULES FOR ADMISSION
TO I.M. SECHENOV FIRST MOSCOW STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
Academic Year 2011-2012
GENERAL INFORMATION
Foreign citizens who apply for the 1st year of undergraduate studies at the University must have education, equivalent to complete (full) general secondary education or vocational training that gives a right to enter a higher education establishment (university) in the Russian Federation.
Together with the application (written in Russian) foreign citizens are to present the following documents:
- originals of complete secondary education certificate and supplement(s) to it (in the cases stipulated by the national legislation of the country in which such document is issued) or its duly verified copy. Such a certificate must be recognized as equivalent to the Russian state complete secondary education certificate, if necessary confirmed by an Equivalency Certificate issued by a Russian authorized body;
- duly verified translation into Russian of the national education certificate and supplement(s) to it (if provisioned by national authorities);
- copy of the identity document (passport) of a foreign citizen;
- copy of the entry visa to the Russian Federation if a foreign citizen has arrived to Russia under the entry visa;
- original health certificate issued by an official public health body of the country of origin stating that the applicant has no communicable diseases;
- negative HIV status certificate;
- 6 photos 3х4 cm size.

Important! In all the documents translated into Russian the holder’s name, surname and other names should be spelled exactly as they appear in the entry visa.
To enter Russia for training at the University a person must have a study visa, issued on authority of invitation (visa support letter) by the University (for countries with visa entrance system).
Applicants without knowledge of the Russian language can take 1 ac. year (9 months) Foundation course (Russian plus Chemistry, Biology & Physics) or Russian for Foreigners course.
The tuition fees include the following facilities for the students (accommodation not included):
• free use of reading rooms, libraries and laboratories
• free books and learning materials
• free use of sports and culture clubs
All other expenses, like for issuing an invitation/admission letter, DHL services, transfer from the airport, medical insurance, registration and so on are to be paid additionally.
Accommodation is arranged on a sharing basis in 4 different hostels with necessary facilities. Accommodation fees for 2011-2012 academic year vary from 35 000.00 to 65 000.00 roubles per year depending on hostel location, number of persons per room, and amenities.
