Graduation Ceremony at the I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy

 On June 21 the International Students Graduation Ceremony 2010 took place at the concert hall "Akademichesky" (Russian Academy of Sciences).

Besides graduates, in the ceremony took part their family members and dear ones, representatives of the faculty and administration, ambassadors and representatives of embassies of the countries, which graduates were to receive Academy diplomas.

Ceremony was preceded by a colorful computer presentation of the Academy and the graduating batch 2010.

The ceremony was officiated by professor Dr. Petr Glybochko, ММА newly elected Rector. He greeted the graduates and expressed a hope that they would never forget their Alma mater, lecturers and tutors.  

In his address professor Artem Markarian noted that this release is the most successful in studies having the highest average results.

The summary information on the graduating class 2010 was delivered by Dr. Sergei A. Baranov.

This year from ММА graduated 258 international students from 33 countries of the world. The bigger numbers of students were from Malaysia – 88, the Chinese People’s Republic – 31, Vietnam – 15, India – 14, Syria – 11 etc.

28 graduates received Diplomas with Honours (“Red Diploma” in students' slang). Three of them – Petya Georgieva (Bulgaria), Jonatan Tan Wei Lun and Mohammed Hafizshah bin Sibil Shah (both Malaysia), specialty “general medicine”, were awarded gold medals "Preuspevshemu" (best graduate) for excellence in studies, research and high personal qualities.

Then graduates and their guests were welcomed by students of preparatory and younger courses of the ММА.

With great attention graduates listened to the addresses by H.E. Dato’ Mohamad Khalis, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Russian Federation, Dato’ Haji Ahmad Husni, Minister of Finance Malaysia, Vitaliy Urekian, Charge d’affaires a.i. Republic of Moldova, and the heads of the MMA partner organizations – Dr. Saman K.R. Weerasinghe (MosLanka Investment) and Hanna Halim (Simatex).

In their speeches ММА graduates thanked out heartedly the Academy’s management, teaching staff and curators for excellent training, constant care and attention to their needs, have assured that they will highly bear a name of «sechenovets».

The graduates of the Academy swore the Hippocratic Oath.

The culmination of the event became delivery of  “red diplomas” to the best graduates by Rector professor Petr Glybochko, and to the rest - by professor Artem Markarian. During this procedure on the big screen there was a photo of each graduate.

Under accompaniment of a storm of applause the meeting was wound up with the hymn of the Moscow Medical Academy.

Goodbye, Academy! The next year graduates will get diplomas of the First Moscow State Medical University.
