Teaching staff
The MMA chairs of Medical, Pharmaceutical, Stomatological and other faculties are comprising over 1700 scientific workers and teachers, Pre-clinical and clinical departments are also involved in research activities, highly specialised medical aid is administered on the basis of clinical departments.
14 faculties and about 125 chairs at the Academy are staffed by more than 1800 specialists of which 320 are Doctors of Sciences (M.D.) and more than 1100 are Candidates of Sciences (Ph.D.) – i.e.85%.
There are on the staff of the Acad¬emy about 2000 research workers and instructors, 2900 medical tutors and 800 physicians in more than 60 spe¬cialities.
The high level of professional competence of the Academy's workers is the following:
they include
- 5 full members (academicians) and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences;
- 67 full members (academicians) and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences;
- 5 full members (academicians) and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Education;
- 120 fellows of foreign academies.
The achievements of the Academy's research workers have won high public acclaim. Among them there are over 68 winners of the Russian Federation's State Prize in science and technology, 59 holders of the title of Merited Worker of Science of the Russian Federation and 15 holders of the title of Merited Physician of Russia.
Over the past five years, the Academy has published more than 500 monographs, text-books, manuals, reference books and educational materials, has received two discovery diplomas, and graduated 159 Doctors of Science (M.D.) and 489 Masters of medicine (Ph.D).
